Shaping South Staffordshire: Planning tomorrow, together.

South Staffordshire has to create a Local Plan that sets out how our district will grow and change over the coming decades. It will guide our decisions about where new homes, jobs, green spaces, and services go. At the heart of the Local Plan is its vision: a shared picture of what we want South Staffordshire to be like by 2045 and beyond.

We know that we have to plan for around 12,000 new homes to be built in South Staffordshire by 2045, alongside new or improved business sites, schools, shops, leisure facilities, and spaces for nature and community life. These requirments are set by national policy. Our job is to make sure development happens in the right places and in the right way.

We want to do that with you and everyone who lives in, works in or visits South Staffordshire.

Going above and beyond: Shaping South Staffordshire

The law requires councils to consult the public on their Local Plan. These are called a Statutory Consultations, and we will be doing this. But we also want to go much further. We want your ideas to help shape the plan from the start. That's why we created Shaping South Staffordshire.

You don't need any knowledge of planning to take part. If you live in, work in, or spend time in South Staffordshire, your perspective matters.

Your ideas will directly inform the next Local Plan, alongside statutory consultation responses, expert research, and national policy requirements. We'll be transparent about how what you tell us shapes the plan at every stage.
